Đề bài có hai yêu cầu cần được xử lý song song: why you like visiting it và why you don’t want to live there. Vì vậy, bạn không nên dành toàn bộ bài để miêu tả căn hộ rồi chỉ kết thúc bằng một câu ngắn nói rằng mình không muốn sống ở đó.

Introduction: Giới thiệu căn hộ

I’ll talk about my friend’s apartment at Ocean Park. It’s one of my favorite places to visit because the apartment is modern and has an amazing river view. However, despite all these advantages, I don’t think I would actually want to live there myself.

The Residential Complex: Miêu tả tòa nhà

But first, let me say a few words about the residential complex. It is located near the Red River and has a very modern design. The building is covered with large glass windows, and its shape resembles the sail of a boat. Some curved details near the entrance remind me of waves. As a result, the whole building looks like a boat riding on the river, which fits perfectly with its surroundings. The complex serves both residential and commercial purposes. The lower floors are mainly used as offices and commercial spaces, while the upper floors contain apartments.

My Friend’s Apartment: Miêu tả căn hộ của người bạn

My friend’s apartment is on the 10th floor. It has an open-plan layout, meaning the living room, dining area and kitchen are all connected. This makes the apartment feel quite spacious and comfortable. What I love most, though, is the panoramic river view. It looks absolutely stunning at sunrise and sunset, so whenever I visit my friend, I really enjoy sitting near the window and taking in the view.

However, I soon realized that living there would be quite expensive. I feel like residents are paying a premium just for the river view, and personally, I don’t think it’s worth the extra cost. Besides that, the riverside location means the area can get extremely windy, especially on higher floors. I find strong winds quite uncomfortable, so living there every day probably wouldn’t suit me.

Overall, I think it’s a fantastic place to visit because I can enjoy the modern surroundings and beautiful scenery without dealing with the drawbacks on a daily basis. Because of the high living costs and windy location, I wouldn’t choose a place like this as my permanent home. Still, I’m always happy to visit my friend there and enjoy the river view for a few hours.

Đề này sẽ dễ xử lý hơn nếu bạn chia ý theo hai vế Like to visit và Don’t want to live there.

Điểm quan trọng nhất là phần cuối. Bạn cần chứng minh được rằng một nơi có thể rất đẹp để ghé thăm nhưng không nhất thiết phù hợp để sinh sống lâu dài.

6. Vocabulary về Drawbacks

Với đề này, vocabulary miêu tả nhược điểm của căn hộ đặc biệt quan trọng vì đây chính là phần giúp bạn trả lời vế “do not want to live in”.

pay a premium: Trả mức giá cao hơn bình thường để có được một đặc điểm hoặc lợi ích nào đó.

I feel like you’re paying a premium just for the river view.

Ví dụ, một căn hộ có thể đắt hơn vì location, view, facilities hoặc brand reputation.

be worth the extra cost: Xứng đáng với khoản chi phí bổ sung.

I don’t think the river view is worth the extra cost.

riverside location: Vị trí ven sông.

The riverside location makes the area quite windy.

7. Cách thể hiện sự đối lập trong bài Speaking

Một điểm đáng chú ý của cue card này là bạn vừa phải nói thích, vừa phải nói không muốn sống ở đó. Vì vậy, các cấu trúc thể hiện contrast rất hữu ích.

Bạn có thể sử dụng even though, however, despite, while và still. Ví dụ:

Even though the apartment has an amazing view, I wouldn’t want to live there.

Despite its beautiful location, the apartment isn’t really suitable for me.

It’s a fantastic place to visit. However, living there would be quite expensive.

I wouldn’t choose it as my permanent home. Still, I really enjoy visiting my friend there.
