Question 1: Why do people sometimes change their plans?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Bài mẫu
Well, people sometimes change their plans because life can be unpredictable, even when they have thought things through carefully. For example, a family may plan a weekend trip, but bad weather, sudden work tasks, or a child getting sick can force them to rearrange everything. In that situation, changing the plan is not a sign of being careless; it is just a way to deal with real life. Another reason is that people may receive new information and realise their original plan is not the best option. If a student finds out that another course is more useful for their future career, it makes sense to adjust their plan instead of stubbornly sticking to the old one. So, I think plans often change because life gets in the way, but sometimes the change is actually a smarter decision.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
change one’s plans Thay đổi kế hoạch
unpredictable Khó đoán trước
think things through Suy nghĩ kỹ lưỡng
bad weather Thời tiết xấu
rearrange everything Sắp xếp lại mọi thứ
deal with real life Ứng phó với những tình huống thực tế
original plan Kế hoạch ban đầu
adjust one’s plan Điều chỉnh kế hoạch
stick to the old plan Bám theo kế hoạch cũ
get in the way Cản trở, làm gián đoạn

Question 2: Is it important to be flexible in life?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Bài mẫu
Absolutely, I think flexibility is very important because things rarely go exactly as planned. If people are too rigid, they may feel stressed every time something unexpected happens, even if the problem is actually quite small. For instance, if a meeting is cancelled, a flexible person may simply use that time to finish another task instead of getting annoyed all day. Flexibility also helps people make the most of new opportunities. Sometimes a change of plan can lead to a better job, a better relationship, or a better way of solving a problem, but people need to be open enough to notice it. So, in my opinion, being flexible does not mean having no direction; it means being able to adapt to change without losing your balance.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
flexibility Sự linh hoạt
go exactly as planned Diễn ra chính xác như kế hoạch
rigid Cứng nhắc, thiếu linh hoạt
unexpected Bất ngờ, ngoài dự kiến
get annoyed Cảm thấy khó chịu

Question 3: Do young people change plans more often than older people?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Bài mẫu
In my opinion, young people probably change plans more often because their lives are still quite open-ended. They may change their major, career goal, friendship group, or travel plan because they are still trying to figure things out. For example, a university student may first want to work in marketing, then later realise that teaching or technology suits them better. Older people, in contrast, often have more responsibilities, so they cannot change plans as freely. If someone has children, a mortgage, or a stable job, they may need to think twice before making any big changes. So, young people tend to change plans more easily, while older people are usually more cautious and practical.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
open-ended Chưa cố định, còn nhiều khả năng thay đổi
change one’s major Thay đổi chuyên ngành học
career goal Mục tiêu nghề nghiệp
figure things out Dần tìm hiểu và xác định điều mình muốn
suit someone better Phù hợp với ai đó hơn
responsibilities Những trách nhiệm
a mortgage Khoản vay thế chấp mua nhà
a stable job Công việc ổn định
think twice Suy nghĩ kỹ trước khi quyết định
cautious Thận trọng
practical Thực tế

Question 4: How do people feel when their plans suddenly change?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Bài mẫu
To be honest, many people feel frustrated when their plans suddenly change, especially if they have already spent time, money, or energy preparing for them. A cancelled flight, a delayed appointment, or a sudden change at work can make people feel annoyed, helpless, or even overwhelmed. This is mainly because people like to feel that they have a sense of control over their day. However, some people may also feel relieved if the original plan was stressful or not very enjoyable. For example, if a difficult meeting is postponed, someone might secretly feel that they have been given a bit of breathing space. So, people’s feelings really depend on whether the change creates more pressure or takes some pressure off.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
feel frustrated Cảm thấy bực bội, thất vọng
a cancelled flight Chuyến bay bị hủy
a delayed appointment Cuộc hẹn bị hoãn
annoyed Khó chịu
helpless Bất lực
overwhelmed Choáng ngợp, quá tải
a sense of control Cảm giác kiểm soát được tình hình
feel relieved Cảm thấy nhẹ nhõm
be postponed Bị hoãn lại
a bit of breathing space Một chút thời gian để nghỉ ngơi, giảm áp lực
take some pressure off Giảm bớt áp lực

Question 5: Can changing plans sometimes lead to better results?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Bài mẫu
Yes, changing plans can definitely lead to better results because the first plan is not always the best one. Sometimes people start with a basic idea, but after they look into the situation more carefully, they discover a more effective option. For example, a small business may plan to open a physical store, but later decide to sell online first because it is cheaper and less risky. That change could help them save money, reach more customers, and avoid unnecessary pressure. On the other hand, changing plans too often can be a problem if people become indecisive and never finish anything. So, I think changing plans is useful when it is based on good reasons, not just fear or a lack of commitment.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
lead to better results Dẫn đến kết quả tốt hơn
the first plan Kế hoạch đầu tiên
look into something Tìm hiểu, xem xét kỹ điều gì
a more effective option Một phương án hiệu quả hơn
a physical store Cửa hàng trực tiếp
less risky Ít rủi ro hơn
save money Tiết kiệm tiền
reach more customers Tiếp cận nhiều khách hàng hơn
indecisive Thiếu quyết đoán
a lack of commitment Sự thiếu cam kết, thiếu kiên trì

Question 6: How can people deal with unexpected changes?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Bài mẫu
Well, the first thing people can do is stay calm and avoid overreacting. When something unexpected happens, it is easy to panic, but taking a few minutes to think clearly can help people work out what to do next. For example, if a student misses an important deadline, they should contact the teacher, explain the situation, and ask if there is still a possible solution. Another useful way is to have backup plans whenever possible. People do not need to prepare for every tiny problem, but having some extra time, money, or support can make sudden changes feel less scary. I guess the key is to accept that life is not always smooth and predictable, and then respond step by step.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
deal with unexpected changes Ứng phó với những thay đổi bất ngờ
stay calm Giữ bình tĩnh
overreact Phản ứng thái quá
panic Hoảng loạn
think clearly Suy nghĩ sáng suốt
work out what to do next Tìm ra việc cần làm tiếp theo
miss a deadline Bỏ lỡ thời hạn
explain the situation Giải thích tình huống
a possible solution Một giải pháp khả thi
backup plans Những phương án dự phòng
smooth and predictable Suôn sẻ và có thể dự đoán trước
step by step Từng bước một
