Bài mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3 – Topic Quiet Places

Question 1: In your country, what quiet places do people like to go?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Well, in Vietnam, people often go to libraries, coffee shops or parks when they want a bit of peace and quiet. Libraries are popular with students because they can study without too many distractions, while quiet cafés are common among young people who need a place to read, work, or have a calm conversation. Some older people also like going to temples or pagodas because these places give them a sense of calm and help them slow down.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
a bit of peace and quiet Một chút yên bình và tĩnh lặng
without too many distractions Không bị quá nhiều yếu tố gây xao nhãng
a calm conversation Cuộc trò chuyện nhẹ nhàng
a sense of calm Cảm giác bình yên
slow down Sống chậm lại, thư giãn

Question 2: Why don’t some people like quiet places?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

To be honest, I guess some people don’t like those places because they find them boring or even uncomfortable.

If someone is used to busy streets, loud music, or constant conversations, silence can make them feel lonely or restless. For example, many young people prefer lively cafés or shopping malls because these places have a vibrant atmosphere and make them feel connected to others.

Another reason is that quiet places can force people to face their own thoughts, which is not always pleasant. When there is no background noise, people may start thinking too much about work, study, or personal problems.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
be used to something Quen với điều gì
constant conversations Những cuộc trò chuyện liên tục
lonely or restless Cô đơn hoặc bồn chồn
a vibrant atmosphere Bầu không khí sôi động
feel connected to others Cảm thấy được kết nối với người khác
face one’s own thoughts Đối diện với những suy nghĩ của bản thân
background noise Tiếng ồn nền

Question 3: Are there more or fewer quiet places now than in the past?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Well, I think there are fewer quiet places now, especially in big cities. In the past, many neighbourhoods were less crowded, and people could easily find peaceful corners near their homes.

Nowadays, cities are full of traffic, construction, shops, and entertainment venues, so noise has become part of everyday life. That said, there are also some new quiet places, such as modern libraries, co-working spaces, and minimalist cafés designed for study or work. I’d say quiet places still exist, but they are harder to come by.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
peaceful corners Những góc không gian yên bình
be full of traffic Có nhiều phương tiện giao thông
become part of everyday life Trở thành một phần của cuộc sống hằng ngày
entertainment venues Những địa điểm giải trí
co-working spaces Không gian làm việc chung
harder to come by Ngày càng khó tìm thấy

Question 4: Can a place ever be completely quiet?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

In my opinion, a place can be very quiet, but it is almost impossible for it to be completely silent. Even in a library or a temple, there may still be small sounds like footsteps, breathing, wind, birds, or people turning pages. These sounds are not disturbing, but they show that total silence is quite rare in real life.

Another point is that people may still hear their own thoughts or body sounds when the outside environment is silent. For example, in a very quiet room, someone may suddenly notice the sound of a fan or their own heartbeat.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
completely silent Hoàn toàn im lặng
total silence Sự tĩnh lặng tuyệt đối
disturbing sounds Những âm thanh gây khó chịu
outside environment Môi trường bên ngoài
be quite rare in real life Khá hiếm gặp trong thực tế
one’s own heartbeat Nhịp tim của chính mình

Question 5: Can people listen to music while doing something else?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Absolutely, many people actively listen to music while doing something else, especially if the task is simple or familiar.

For example, people often listen to music while cooking, exercising, cleaning the house, or travelling by bus because music can make these activities feel less boring. In these situations, music works like background noise and helps people stay in a better mood.

However, if the task requires deep concentration, music can become distracting. A student solving difficult maths problems or writing an essay may find lyrics annoying because they compete for attention. So, I think music is helpful for routine tasks, but for serious thinking, silence may still be the better choice.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
background noise Âm thanh nền
stay in a better mood Duy trì tâm trạng tốt hơn
deep concentration Sự tập trung cao độ
become distracting Trở nên gây xao nhãng
compete for attention Tranh giành sự chú ý
routine tasks Những công việc thường ngày

Question 6: What are the benefits of quietness for people of all ages?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

Well, quietness is beneficial because it allows people to rest mentally and emotionally.

Children may need quiet time to read, draw, sleep, or concentrate on homework, while adults need it to recover from work stress. For older people, a calm environment can reduce tiredness and give them a greater sense of comfort.

Another benefit is that quietness helps people think more clearly. When there is less noise, people can make decisions, reflect on their feelings, or simply enjoy being present.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
rest mentally and emotionally Nghỉ ngơi về mặt tinh thần và cảm xúc
recover from work stress Phục hồi sau căng thẳng công việc
a calm environment Môi trường yên bình
a greater sense of comfort Cảm giác thoải mái hơn
think more clearly Suy nghĩ sáng suốt hơn
reflect on one’s feelings Suy ngẫm về cảm xúc của bản thân
enjoy being present Tận hưởng khoảnh khắc hiện tại

Question 7: Do you agree or disagree that people today feel uncomfortable if there is no noise?

Sample Answer (Band 8.0+ tham khảo):

To be honest, I partly agree because many people today are not used to silence anymore.

They often turn on music, videos, podcasts, or social media even when they are eating, studying, or getting ready for bed. For some people, constant sound has become second nature, so a quiet room may feel strange or even lonely.

However, I don’t think everyone is uncomfortable with silence. Many people actively look for quiet cafés, meditation spaces, or short trips to the countryside because they are tired of noise and notifications. I guess modern life has made people more dependent on sound, but quietness is still something many people secretly want.

Từ vựng nổi bật:

Từ vựng Ý nghĩa
be not used to silence Không quen với sự im lặng
constant sound Âm thanh liên tục
become second nature Trở thành thói quen tự nhiên, gần như vô thức
feel strange or even lonely Cảm thấy lạ lẫm hoặc thậm chí cô đơn
meditation spaces Không gian thiền định
be more dependent on something Phụ thuộc nhiều hơn vào điều gì
